It was glitz and glamour on March 1, 2020 when members of Serra Club of Ipaja Lagos gathered for the installation of their new officers, unveiling their website and other communication channels and launching of a book on leadership authored by the incoming President; Serran Olusegun Anjorin.
The event which started off with a Thanksgiving Mass by 10am at St Alphonsus Catholic Church Aboru Iyana Ipaja was officiated by the Parish Priest; Rev. Fr (Dr) Daniel Nwankwo and the Spiritual Director/Chaplain of the Club in the Archdiocese of Lagos; Very Rev.Fr Obayomi. The newly appointed officers were inaugurated at the Mass and charged with the responsibility of working to fulfill the Serra objective of supporting and promoting vocations to Priesthood and other religious lives.
In his acceptance speech the newly installed President reeled out his Four-point agenda which would cover the following areas during his 24-month reign in office: Restoration and consolidation, Annual membership drive, Training and re-training of members and the revisiting and resuscitation of various programmes of the club
The high point of the event was the special merit Awards presented to Very Rev. Monsignor Livinus Ukah for his support over the years to Serra Club of Ipaja and other nominated diligent members. A special review of a book on Leadership authored by the incoming President was done before it was unveiled and launched to the admiration of many. The new website of Serra Club of Ipaja: www.serraclubofipaja.org.ng was launched alongside their official Facebook page: SERRA CLUB IPAJA to further entrench membership; a new initiative of the incoming President. With this online communications initiative, Serra Club of Ipaja is the first Serra Club in Nigeria with a dynamic website.
Serra Club of Ipaja, Lagos formed in 2006 and granted a charter status in 2007 became the 5th club in Nigeria to be chartered with its international headquarters in the USA, over the years has lived up to her mission of supporting and promoting vocations to the Catholic Priesthood. The Club constitutes lay men and women who love the Priests and Religious and do everything to support and promote those that have taken the decision to join the Priestly order and other Catholic Religious
